Leadership & Core NOC Team

  • Abigail Henderson

    NOC Project Coordinator

Abby graduated from the University of Georgia in 2022, after which she completed the Post-Bac Pre-Medicine program at The George Washington University in 2023. She is excited to begin her career as a Research Data Associate for NYU Grossman School of Medicine’s Program for Medical Education Innovations and Research (PrMEIR). As Night-onCall coordinator, Abby coordinates NOC communication and implementation across Consortium sites and is excited to support all teams. Please reach out to Abby with any and all questions!

  • Tavinder K. Ark, PhD

    Data Scientist

Tavinder is an Associate Professor at the Medical Colleges of Wisconsin with the Data Science Science Institute. She has extensive expertise in statistics, research methodology and a deep theoretically understanding of cognitive decision-making. Tavinder’s role in Night On Call is to support sites in data capture, using the NOC application or their system of choice, to report the results and interpretation of NOC. She works with very closely with Abby in ensuring sites are well supported before, during and after the implementation of NOC.

  • Dr. Adina L. Kalet, MPH, MD

Cofounder & Knowledge Expert in Medical Education

Adina is a Professor at the Medical Colleges of Wisconsin. She is the principle investigator of NOC. Her main role is to provide oversight in the design of new cases, and interpretation of findings for research purposes and on-going improvements based on feedback from each sight. Adina also provides consultation around how to use each medical school’s NOC results to assess and change their curriculum.

  • Dr. Sondra Zabar, MD

    Cofounder & Knowledge Simulation Expert

Sandy is Director of the Division of General Internal Medicine and Clinical Innovation at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and directs the Program for Medical Education Innovations and Research (PrMEIR). She is driven to advance and institute best practices for patient-centered, evidence-based medical education. Sandy’s expertise in Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCE) inspired the development of Night On Call to assess readiness for near graduate medical students and interns. As co-principle investigator, she works alongside Adina to design cases, expand NOC activities, and interpret students’ performance data to recommend curriculum adjustments.

  • Andrew Gleave

    Software Engineer

Andrew is a full stack web developer and has created the NOC application. He has over 15+ years of experience in developing applications for data intake and reporting in both an educational setting and for commercial purposes.

NOC began as a research project in 2016 at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, and the project has grown significantly. The NOC simulation has now been incorporated into UME curricula at six different U.S. medical schools as an in-person, hybrid, or fully virtual simulation experience. NOC is currently supported by the Macy Jr. Josiah Foundation (January 2021 – December 2023) to form a consortium to assess, prepare, and support the transition-to-internship.
